Challenge represent the obstacles, hurdles and difficulties that are faced during certain phases of  life. Each of us is born with both strengths and weaknesses. We must face our weaknesses and work to improve ourselves.

With the Pinnacles we see the road ahead. We can attain a good idea of where the road is headed.We can relate the Pinnacles to the path on which we walk to get to our destination. The Challenges represent the twists, turns and potholes in the path along the way. At first the obstacles appear as something to overcome. However, while walking the path and becoming conscious of the imperfections, the Challenges actually begin to enrich our experience. Learning how to manoeuvre is an impetus for a successful and an enriched experience.

the Challenges and Pinnacles go hand in hand. Once you determine the current Pinnacle, always look toward the Challenge to discover what else there is to learn.

The Challenges are based on nine year cycles and run concurrently with the Pinnacles. You will recall that the Personal Years of 1 - 9 make up a complete cycle. You can combine these two Key Cyclic Vibrations--The Pinnacles and Challenges--with the Personal Year to attain an understanding of the range of experiences possible in a given year.

The four Challenges you are required to overcome during the course of this lifetime will influence you during different periods of your life, except for the Third or Main Challenge, which lasts from birth until death. The Challenges are fluid periods of your life, not confined to specific years so much as general periods. All of your Challenges are present at birth

Some people may experience the same Challenge Number in more than one Challenge Period. Since each Challenge period lasts for at least 9 years, these people may have to realize that certain skills and talents will have to be mastered in order to live a healthy and balanced life. When a Challenge Number occurs more than once, within a person's life, that person has an opportunity to master the events and situations associated with this specific challenge. This Challenge Number could represent a major life lesson to accept and use throughout their life. Blocks, challenges and obstructions can delay and deter us from our goals. Yet, our particular challenges teach and guide us to improve our life. The more blocks in your Numerology chart, the more lessons you have the opportunity to experience and learn from. In order for us to grow, we must face these lessons and the fears associated with them. Then we will be able to conquer our weaknesses, and this is where the Challenges come in. What we need to do is acknowledge our frustrations, fears and pain and find ways to express our feelings safely. Admitting that we have pain, fears, or problems is part of our path toward being able to take an active part in a balanced life. It is part of the path toward working with your grief.

Calculating the Challenges

In calculating the Challenges, we combine the same numbers found in the Birthday. Instead of using addition, as with the Pinnacles, we use subtraction to find the Challenges.

Always subtract the smaller of the two numbers from the larger number. Remember a nine Pinnacle is never found as a challenge because it is the highest number used and all the other numbers are subtracted from it.

Note: Master Numbers are not used in calculating Challenges. When finding a Challenge, reduce Master Numbers to one digit before subtracting.

The 1st Challenge is the difference between the month and day of birth.
The 2nd Challenge is the difference between the day and year of birth.
The 3rd or Main Challenge equals the difference between the 1st and 2nd Challenge.
The 4th Challenge is the difference between the month and year of birth.

The timing of challenges varies for each of the first nine Life Path numbers, and is the same as the pinnacles. The timing for the master number 11 is the same a Life Path 2, and the master number 22 is same as the Life Path 4. The first challenge begins at birth. This challenge ending is calculated by subtracting the Life Path number from 36.

3^rd challenge is also The Main Challenge Number*, is said to be the most dominant of all the Challenge Numbers. It takes priority over the other numbers because it represents obstacles that may come from within you. It is known as "the devil" that you may find yourself fighting with your entire life. It is that question that burned inside you that you hope you will have answered before you die.

The first Challenge Number is less influential. It may represent problems that are more situational or episodic problems. It indicates problems that can be due to circumstances or your parents. These problems usually appear as the child matures and enters the Middle Years of their Life Cycle.

The second Challenge Number also a number that depends on the situation and usually represents the hardship of the people around you. It can also represent behavioural problems and problems that are beyond your control.

You may get a 0, as your result, of these calculations. There is an interpretation for this number also.

If you end up with the same number more than once, it could mean that it has doubly the impact in your life.

If you Early Challenge Number and your Middle Challenge Number are the same then it could mean that your childhood problems may dominate all of your years. It may also mean that some of the problems you have faced were beyond your control.

If your Middle Challenge Number is the same as your Main Challenge Number it could mean that most of your problems were made as an adult.

If all numbers are the same then it is safe to say that your stars are trying to make you learn  lessons in life by causing problems to arise where ever you go.
